Chivas de Guadalajara begin their participation in the Concacaf Champions Cup 2025 facing Cibao from the Dominican Republic at Estadio Cibao.

Chivas de Guadalajara Debut in the Champions Cup

The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup has begun, and the Chivas de Guadalajara have started their participation in the first round, facing Cibao from the Dominican Republic at the Cibao Stadium. The Mexican team is looking to redeem itself after last year's performance when they were eliminated by their rivals, America, in the round of 16.

Although the Chivas are up against a theoretically weaker opponent, they should not underestimate them, as they have not performed well in the 2025 Liga MX Clausura tournament, currently sitting in thirteenth place in the standings with only five points.

On the other hand, Cibao is an unknown factor since the Dominican Football League has not yet started, making this match their official debut in 2025. The Chivas aim to replicate their success from the last time they were crowned champions in Concacaf.

The first encounter between both teams took place in the 2018 edition, where the Chivas managed to advance to the quarter-finals after defeating Cibao with an aggregate score of 7-0. The return leg will be played on Thursday, February 6, at the Cibao Stadium at 7:00 PM and will be available to watch on the Tubi APP.

Background shows that it is not the first time these two teams have faced each other in the Concachampions.
